Upper School Math and Science Teacher
Description
New Life Christian School is seeking a full-time teacher position in upper school math and science. We are a KinderPrep-12th grade school with about 120 students and continue implementing the classical Christian pedagogy. We passionately desire to serve the body of Christ in the inland NW by training wise, thoughtful, and eloquent students. The ideal candidate would be someone passionate about CCE and a gifted teacher familiar with teaching math and science classically and through a Christian lens.
New Life Christian School is a non-denominational Christian School in Ephrata, equipping students to learn, love, and live Christ. New Life Christian School has been providing education in a Christ-focused environment and is starting our 40th year.
Responsibilities
The teacher is to work with all students in a spirit of genuine Christian love and to demonstrate a vital living relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.
- Attend and participate in morning devotions, teacher's meetings, evening programs involving his or her students, and other meetings as assigned.
- Do supervisory duty in the gymnasium, playground, or study hall as assigned before, during, or after school.
- Complete paperwork including the following: regular progress reports; report cards; grade records for permanent files; inventories of classroom equipment, supplies, and books; end-of-year debriefing evaluation; records of attendance; administration of achievement tests; and other paperwork as assigned or requested.
- Building and classroom cleaning and repair, including responsibility for daily and end-of-year cleaning of classroom areas as prescribed; assisting in the overall cleanliness of the facility; and promptly reporting repair needs to the administration.
- Maintain proper classroom discipline, handle minor problems personally, and refer significant issues to the administrator.
- Be available to parents or students who wish to conference during non-teaching time.
- Hold a bi-annual conference with the parents of each student.
- Supervise extracurricular activities, organizations, and outings as assigned.
- Carry out any other specific duties as assigned.
Requirements
It is preferable that the successful candidate has taught in a classical Christian school or has experience in a classical Christian education environment and has a bachelor's or master's degree in a related subject. The ideal candidate is passionate about Christian education, loves the Lord with all their heart, soul, mind, and strength, and delights in leading students to learn and discover His world. He or she must also be a self-starter, teachable, excellent at time management, have strong classroom management skills, be flexible, and work well in a team.
